“Trance in Dance – A performance alone or with musician (saxophone)

– Gilles Polet first trained as an actor at the Lemmensinsituut in Leuven before moving to Leeds to study at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. He graduated from PARTS in Brussels in 2008.

Since the end of his studies, his work has taken him to the opera with Deborah Warner at La Monnaie, Brussels, to short films with directors Dimitri Karakatsanis, Andrew Ly and Kevin Calero to performances of ‘Shock’ by David Zambrano, ‘ Orgy of Tolerance ‘and’ Prometheus-Landscape II ‘by Jan Fabre.

His solo “Jack-in-the-Box” has been performed worldwide in Hong Kong, Tehran, Berlin, etc. During his trip to Iran, Gilles Polet came into contact with Sufism, from which came his next solo: “Simurgh”.
