Watan Dabke Groupis an international group of Middle Eastern folk dancers (Dabke). The Brussels group brings the dances and rhythms of Lebanon to life. Watan literally means “homeland”, not conceived as a geographical place delimited by demarcation lines, but as a place and a culture to which one is emotionally linked where his memories are found. The Dabke is a dance in sign of respect for his native land, widespread in the countries of the Middle East, it represents the love of the land and of his country and especially the union between peoples; it expresses feelings of joy and is practiced on happy occasions, especially weddings, but also births and harvest days. The group’s goal is to promote intercultural dialogue and solidarity through art, and they manage to get everyone to come to the track.
